EffectCraft is the motion graphics and compositing app in the ArtCraft suite - positioned against Adobe After Effects. It is arguably the most ambitious app in the family, since AE's feature surface is enormous.
What it replaces
The After Effects model: a composition timeline, layers, keyframes, easing, masks, effects and parenting - for title animation, VFX compositing and motion design.
What it does today
- Composition timeline with keyframed animation.
- Layer compositing with masks and track mattes.
- Core effect set for color, blur, distortion and keying.
- Pairs with FilmCraft for the edit-and-finish pipeline.
Where it is rough
- The effects library is a fraction of AE's (plus no third-party plugins like Element 3D or Particular).
- Expressions/scripting support is early.
- 3D layers and cameras are basic.
- Render queue and format coverage is limited.
Who it suits now
Simple title animation, basic compositing and learning motion design without a subscription. Professional mograph/VFX shops will find the ceiling quickly.
