ArtCraft FAQ: Honest Answers to the Questions Everyone Is Asking
Straight answers about what ArtCraft is, whether it is safe, what it costs, and how this site relates to it.
What is ArtCraft?
ArtCraft is a free, open-source creative suite by StoryTold - ten apps covering image editing, vector design, video editing, RAW development, PDFs, motion graphics, page layout and Office documents, plus an AI studio for image and video generation. It went viral in October 2026 as the "open-source Adobe alternative."
Is ArtCraft free?
Yes - the suite is free and open source under permissive licenses. AI generation is metered through platform credits or your own provider keys, like any AI tool.
Is ArtCraft safe and legitimate?
The project is real and public on GitHub (storytold/artcraft). It is early alpha, so expect bugs - but it is a genuine open-source suite. Download only from getartcraft.com or the GitHub releases page; copycat download sites already exist.
Is ArtCraft really "vibe-coded"?
The team used heavy AI assistance to build the suite - that is part of the story that made it famous. The code is public and the apps demonstrably run; long-term maintainability is a fair open question.
Can ArtCraft replace Adobe Creative Cloud?
Not fully for most professionals today - the Craft apps are months old while Adobe has decades of depth. For AI-assisted creation and everyday editing, parts of the suite are already usable.
Does ArtCraft run in a browser?
Yes - the AI studio has a browser version at app.getartcraft.com. The Craft desktop apps are native software for macOS, Windows and Linux; several can also compile to WebAssembly.
What is this site?
ArtCraft Web is an independent service - five browser AI creation tools plus this unofficial wiki. We are not affiliated with ArtCraft or StoryTold. For the suite itself, go to getartcraft.com.
Is there a mobile app?
No official mobile apps for the suite. The browser studio and our tools work in a mobile browser for quick generations.
